Subject: Advisory Notice on Field School Modification
Attachments: SP201500024 Plan - Approved Special Use Permit 2018-10-17.pdf
Mr. Strickland,
We have reviewed the exhibit titled "Minor Modification of Special Use Concept Plan for Field School of Charlottesville,"
prepared by Shimp Engineering, P.C., revision #1, dated October 1, 2018, which is attached to this email.
The aforementioned exhibit shows two primary changes from the approved "Special Use Concept Plan and Exhibits for
Field School of Charlottesville," dated October 27, 2016, for SP 2015-24. These two changes include an adjusted
boundary line near the front of the parcel to allow the neighboring parcel more convenient access to his parcel, and a
label of the 25' tree buffer "C," as requested by County staff. The boundary line adjustment narrows the planting buffer
along Barracks Road to the minimum of 10' at the eastern edge of Field School parcel.
Condition 1 of SP 2015-24 allows "minor modifications to the plan which are in general accord," and further notes:
"modifications are to be considered in terms of minimizing or improving impacts on adjoining properties and roadways."
In light of the applicant's intent to improve impacts to the neighboring parcel while ensuring compliance with the Zoning
Ordinance, the two changes described above are found to be in general accord with the concept plan dated October 27,
2016.
As these changes constitute minor modifications, I believe no formal amendment of the special use plan is necessary.
