Subject: RE:WAHS tower at January 8 2018 ARB meeting
Attachments: WESTERN ALBEMARLE HS CELL TOWER.PDF
Margaret and Chris,
The attached zoning drawings were revised as follows:
Z-1.0 and Z-7.0—the Shentel application form pasted into these two sheets has been replaced with a new one; the
revised form has the RAD center at 130' in order to decrease total height shown to 145'.
Z-6.0 (Elevation):
1. Previously, the antennas were shown as extending higher than the monopole, which made the overall
height appear to be more than 145' (the problem we had with the Stony point drawings); each antenna
array has been shifted down about 5' to ensure that the max height (exclusive of lightning rod) will be
145' as tested in the balloon test. The heights AGL are on the arrows along the side of the pole.
2. We changed the schematic look of the arrays so that the one requested for Shentel represents the
maximum standoff and number of antennas(9); previously, we the other arrays were depicted as wider with 12
antennas;
3. A note has been added to give the approximate diameter of the monopole at top and bottom;
Z-7.0 The antenna array now shows the distances between the face of the monopole and the back of the closest
antennas (approximately 43.75") and from the face of the monopole to the back of the farthest antennas (approx. 65").
In the next series of emails, I will send you the revised photosims showing five arrays.
Please let me know if you have questions.
Thanks,
Lori

Hi Margaret,
I spoke to Milestone about your question, and the answer is that Shentel is currently requesting six antennas but they
would like the approval for nine, which is why the elevation depicts nine. I am asking Milestone if they would like to
amend the drawings to show all five arrays the same as the Shentel array. (For AHS and Stony Point, the dimensions for
the dedicated carrier became the max for all carriers.)
Thanks for asking,
Lori

Subject: WAHS antennas
Lori,
The Monopole Elevation Plan indicates that the Shentel array includes 9 panel antennas, 1 MW antenna, and 9 RRHs.
The Tower Equipment table on the Antenna Details Sheet lists 6 panel antennas, 1 MW, and 12 RRHs.Are the numbers
given on the elevation supposed to be the same as those in the table?
Thanks for your help.

Subject: Western Albemarle Milestone Application -- color change
Hi Chris and Margaret,
In our application for the WAHS site, Milestone Communications requested a modification of Section 5.1.40(b)(2)(d)to
permit the monopole to retain the gray galvanized steel finish to minimize visibility against the sky rather than paint it
brown. We want to withdraw that request and would like to paint the pole and all related equipment on the pole
Sherwin Williams Umbra SW4008 (Protective& Marine Coatings),which is the color Shentel tells us they use in
Albemarle County.
We think brown will better camouflage the pole when the leaves are off the trees. The facility will be skylit in only a
couple of locations(from 250 near the school sign and immediately behind the school across the field off Emerald Court)
whereas it will be visible through the trees when the leaves are off the trees from Miller School Road and from Ms.
Jackson's residence on Savannah Court. Also, the ball field lights at the football field are actually brown wooden poles,
and we'd like the monopole to be similar in color.
Please let me know if you have any concerns about this change or would like additional information. We will send our
photosims when available.
Thanks,
Lori
