RE: Oak Hill Convenience Store
Final Site Plan Review, SDP2018-82
Mr. Perez:
As requested, I've reviewed the Final Site Plan (10/18/18) for the proposed construction
referenced above. The issues I see concerning sewage disposal and the existing well are
consistent with my review comments for the initial site plan and are as follows:
The water source will be the public system, but sewage disposal will be an existing on -site
drainfield. I understand that the existing system currently serves the store, as well as multiple
homes in the trailer court. To address the change of use that will occur with the proposed
construction, we will require a capacity assessment by a professional engineer. Presently, our
office has not received either an assessment of the existing system, or design plans and
application for a construction permit for a new drainfield.
Concerning the existing well, located on the site plan at the southern edge of the area of
disturbance, I recommend the well head be protected during construction. It appears final
grading may result in fill material added in this location, and if so, the well head must not be
buried. Given these concerns and because the proposed locations for the fuel storage tanks
encroach within the 100-foot minimum separation distance to the well, the best solution may be
to abandon the well. Any modification to, or abandonment of, the well must be preformed by a
licensed well driller and may require permitting by this office.
If there are any questions or concerns, please give me a call, 434-972-4306.
Sincerely,
Alan Mazurowski
