Virginia 22701 December 04, 2018 County of Albemarle Department of Community Development 401 McIntire Road Charlottesville, VA 22902 Attn: Tim Padalino Re: ZMA-2018-00005-PT Hotel -State Farm Boulevard Review #3 Dear Mr. Padalino: The Department of Transportation, Charlottesville Residency Transportation and Land Use Section, has reviewed the above referenced as submitted by Bohler Engineering, dated 18 June, 2018 and offers the following comments: The comments below have still not been addressed from October 10, 2018 in response to the TIA and remain applicable. 1. At the intersection of State Farm Boulevard and Martha Jefferson Drive this development will introduce up to 30 peak hour U-turns in the southbound direction. This movement should be examined via "auto -turn" diagrams for various design vehicles. 2. Please provide the spacing from the southern site entrance and the Martha Jefferson Boulevard intersection. The required spacing from an unsignalized intersection and a partial access entrance on a collector road is 250 ft. A VDOT Land Use Permit will be required prior to any work within the right-of-way. The owner/developer must contact the VDOT Charlottesville Residency Land Use Section at (434) 422-9399 for information pertaining to this process.
