WHETHER SHOWN ON THE PLANS OR NOT. DAMAGE TO ANY EXISTING UTILITIES SHALL BE REPAIRED BY THE CONTRACTOR TO THE ORIGINAL
CONDITION AT NO ADDITIONAL COST TO THE OWNER.
8. ALL DISTURBED PATHWAYS, CURB & GUTTER, AND SIDEWALKS SHALL BE RESTORED TO PRE -CONSTRUCTION CONDITIONS.
9. WHERE IT IS NECESSARY TO DEFLECT THE PIPE TO THE MAXIMUM ALLOWABLE DEFLECTION, IT SHALL BE IN ACCORDANCE WITH SECTION 025100
OF THE SPECIFICATIONS. PIPE SHALL BE ZINC -COATED, CLASS 53 DUCTILE IRON, PER SECTION 025100.
10. THE PROPOSED WATER MAINS SHALL BE INSTALLED WITH AT LEAST 4 FEET MINIMUM EARTH COVER, EXCEPT WHERE OTHERWISE SHOWN OR
SPECIFIED.
11. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ESTABLISHING AND MAINTAINING ALL LINES AND GRADES NECESSARY FOR WATER MAIN
INSTALLATION IN ACCORDANCE WITH SECTION 017123 OF THE SPECIFICATIONS.
12. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL OBTAIN AND COMPLY WITH ALL PERMIT REQUIREMENTS INVOLVING VDOT LAND USE PERMITS.
13. STATIONS FOR APPURTENANCES SHOWN ON THE PLANS ARE INTENDED AS A GUIDE TO SHOW APPROXIMATE LOCATIONS. VALVES AND FITTINGS
MAY BE SHIFTED AS DIRECTED BY THE OWNER TO THE CLOSEST WHOLE PIPE SECTIONS TO MINIMIZE FIELD CUTS. ADJUSTED STATIONING SHALL
BE SHOWN ON THE AS -BUILT DRAWINGS. CRITICAL ITEMS SHALL BE INSTALLED TO THE EXACT POSITION AS DIRECTED BY THE OWNER.
14. ALL VALVES, HORIZONTAL BENDS, AND FITTINGS SHALL BE RESTRAINED JOINT WITH RESTRAINED PIPE/FITTINGS. IN ADDITION, CONNECTION TEES,
SHALL BE ANCHORED BY THRUST BLOCKS. SEE PLAN & PROFILE SHEETS FOR LENGTHS OF REQUIRED RESTRAINT.
15. ALL WORK IS SUBJECT TO THE INSPECTION AND ACCEPTANCE BY RWSA. NO WORK SHALL BE CONDUCTED ON WEEKENDS OR HOLIDAYS
WITHOUT PRIOR WRITTEN PERMISSION FROM RWSA. CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE A MINIMUM OF FOURTEEN (14) DAYS NOTICE TO THE OWNER
PRIOR TO ANY AFTER-HOURS OR NIGHT WORK.
16. IN ADDITION TO MINIMUM SEPARATION REQUIREMENTS FOR UTILITY CROSSINGS, WHEN A CROSSING IS MADE UNDER AN EXISTING FACILITY,

CREEK INTERCEPTOR CROSSINGS. BACKFILLING THE AREA OF THE CROSSING WITH COMPACTED 57 STONE TO THE SPRINGLINE OF THE EXISTING
PIPE IS REQUIRED.
17. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL COORDINATE WORK WITH CONSTRUCTION BY OTHERS, INCLUDING THE GOLF COURSE CONTRACTOR AND DOMINION
VIRGINIA POWER.

(UVAF/BIRDWOOD GOLF COURSE). ALL UNDERGROUND UTILITIES ENCOUNTERED SHALL BE REPORTED TO THE ENGINEER AND PROPERTY
OWNER;. ALL IRRIGATION LINES THAT WILL BE ABANDONED BY UVAF DO NOT NEED TO BE REPAIRED.
25. REPAIR AND RESTORE ALL CULVERT AND STREAM CROSSINGS TO ORIGINAL OR BETTER CONDITIONS (AS DIRECTED BY THE ENGINEER).
RESTORATION OF ASPHALT GOLF CART PATHS OVER CULVERTS WILL ALSO BE REQUIRED.
26. THE PROPERTY OWNER (UVAF/BIRDWOOD GOLF COURSE) WILL OCCUPY THE SITE AND CONTINUE TO CONDUCT GOLF COURSE OPERATIONS
AND RENOVATIONS. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL COOPERATE WITH THE PROPERTY OWNER DURING CONSTRUCTION OPERATIONS TO MINIMIZE
CONFLICTS AND FACILITATE PROPERTY OWNER USAGE AND ACCESS TO ALL AREAS OF THEIR PROPERTY IN AN EFFORT TO CAUSE NO

2. THE CONSTRUCTION ENTRANCES ARE TO BE BUILT AND LOCATED ACCORDING TO THE
SUPPLIED PLAN WITH A WASH RACK, AND AIRE TO TIE INTO THE PAVED ROADWAY WITH 21A OR SIMILAR
GRADED STONE TO EXTEND 20' OFF THE PAVEMENT.
3. WORK HOURS FOR THE DAILY USE OF THESE ENTRANCES WILL BE FROM 8:30AM TO
4:30PM AND A FLAGGER IS OPTIONAL AND AT THE DISCRETION OF THE RWSA.
4. NO DIRT IS TO BE TRANSFERRED TO THE ROADWAY.
5. IF A LANE CLOSURE IS NEEDED TO CONSTRUCT THE ENTRANCE OFF RTE.250 THE WORK

STANDARD EROSION AND SEDIMENT CONTROL NOTES
1. THE PLAN APPROVING AUTHORITY MUST BE NOTIFIED BY THE CONTRACTOR ONE WEEK PRIOR TO THE
PRE -CONSTRUCTION CONFERENCE, ONE WEEK PRIOR TO THE COMMENCEMENT OF LAND DISTURBING ACTIVITY, AND
ONE WEEK PRIOR TO THE FINAL INSPECTION.
2. ALL EROSION AND SEDIMENT CONTROL MEASURES WILL BE CONSTRUCTED AND MAINTAINED ACCORDING TO
MINIMUM STANDARDS AND SPECIFICATIONS OF THE VIRGINIA EROSION AND SEDIMENT CONTROL HANDBOOK AND
VIRGINIA REGULATIONS VR 625-02-00 EROSION AND SEDIMENT CONTROL REGULATIONS.
3. ALL EROSION AND SEDIMENT CONTROL MEASURES ARE TO BE PLACED PRIOR TO OR AS THE FIRST STEP IN
CLEARING.
4. A COPY OF THE APPROVED EROSION AND SEDIMENT CONTROL PLAN SIHALL BE MAINTAINED ON THE SITE AT ALL
TIMES.
5. PRIOR TO COMMENCING LAND DISTURBING ACTIVITIES IN AREAS OTHER THAN INDICATED ON THESE PLANS
(INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, OFF-SITE BORROW OR WASTE AREAS), THE CONTRACTOR SHALL SUBMIT A
SUPPLEMENTARY EROSION CONTROL PLAN TO THE OWNER FOR REVIEW AND APPROVAL BY THE PLAN APPROVING

6. THE CONTRACTOR IS RESPONSIBLE FOR INSTALLATION OF ANY ADDITIONAL EROSION CONTROL MEASURES

7. ALL DISTURBED AREAS ARE TO DRAIN TO APPROVED SEDIMENT CONTROL MEASURE AT ALL TIMES DURING LAND

8. DURING DEWATERING OPERATIONS, WATER SHALL BE PUMPED INTO AN APPROVED FILTERING DEVICE.
9. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL INSPECT ALL EROSION CONTROL MEASURES PERIODICALLY AND AFTER EACH
RUNOFF -PRODUCING RAINFALL EVENT. ANY NECESSARY REPAIRS OR CLEANUP TO MAINTAIN THE EFFECTIVENESS

10. ALL FILL MATERIAL TO BE TAKEN FROM AN APPROVED, DESIGNATED BORROW AREA.

AND IN THE MONTHS OF SEPTEMBER TO FEBRUARY TO CONSIST A 50/'50 MIX OF ANNUAL RYEGRASSS AND
CEREAL WINTER RYE, OR IN MARCH AND APRIL TO CONSIST OF ANNUAL RYE, OR MAY THROUGH AUGUST TO
CONSIST OF GERMAN MILLET. STRAW MULCH IS TO BE APPLIED AT 80LNS/100SF. ALTERNATIVES ARE SUBJECT

17. PERMANENT STABILIZATION SHALL BE LIME AND FERTILIZER, PERMANENT SEEDING, AND MULCH. AGRICULTURAL

FERTILIZER SHALL BE APPLIED AT 1000LBS/ACRE AND CONSIST OF A 110-20-10 NUTRIENT MIX. PERMANENT

PROJECT DESCRIPTION: THE PROJECT CONSISTS OF THE CONSTRUCTION OF APPROXIMATELY 6,069 LINEAR FEET OF 36 -INCH DUCTILE IRON
RAW WATER MAIN WITHIN BIRDWOOD GOLF COURSE/UNIVERSITY OF VIRGINIA FOUNDATION PROPERTY IN CHARLOTTESVILLE, VIRGINIA. THE
APPROXIMATE LIMITS OF THE PROPOSED WATER MAIN EXTEND FROM FOXHAVEN FARM TO IVY ROAD, ROUTE 250. THIS PROJECT IS SOLELY
LOCATED WITHIN PRIVATELY OWNED PROPERTY, THEREFORE, NONE OF THIS PROJECT WILL BE INSIDE PUBLIC RIGHT-OF-WAY. THE TOTAL
DISTURBED AREA IS APPROXIMATELY 11.75 ACRES, WITH ALL OF THIS AREA BEING NON -PAVED. TOTAL DISTURBED AREA SHALL BE NO
GREATER THAN 1 ACRE AT ANY GIVEN TIME. THE DISTURBED AREA WILL BE RESTORED UPON COMPLETION OF THE PROJECT.

ADJACENT AREAS: THE PROJECT IS BOUNDED ON THE WEST BY THE CONTINUATION OF BIRDWOOD GOLF COURSE, ON THE NORTH BY IVY
ROAD, ON THE SOUTH BY THE FOXHAVEN FARM PROPERTY, AND ON THE EAST BY A RESIDENTIAL COMMUNITY ALONG CANTERBURY ROAD.
THERE IS A LARGE AREA OF DENSE WOODS ALONG THE PROPERTY LINE OF BIRDWOOF GOLF COURSE. THERE ARE NO COMMERCIAL
FACILITIES OR BUSINESSES INSIDE THE PROJECT LIMITS, WITH THE EXCEPTION OF THE GOLF COURSE. OVERALL, THE PROJECT IS LOCATED
IN A RURAL/RESIDENTAIL SETTING.
OFF-SITE AREAS: THERE ARE TWO LOCATIONS WITHIN THE PROJECT LIMITS THAT ARE CLASSIFIED AS STAGING/LAYDOWN AREAS. SEE SHEET
