Thanks for the revisions, Kristyn.
My comments follow:
1. The revised background color does not appear to be a"true"blue and looks inconsistent with the other existing
approved blues in the shopping center. Pantone 281 and 295 have been approved. In addition to those shades, here
are a few of the Pantone blues that I could approve: 300, 301, 2935, 2945, 3005,3015.
2. The Comprehensive Sign Plan anticipates regularly shaped sign panels; it does not allow for extensions beyond
the rectangular sign panel. Leaves could be incorporated into the sign design by placing them inside the perimeter
of the panel.
3. My files show 3'6"as the maximum approvable height for this location to avoid an over-crowded appearance.
Please revise the plans to address these issues and email me the revisions. If you have questions, please let me know.
Thank you.

Hell Margaret,
I've attached new rendering for you to reference my responses to your previous email. I will respond to each point one
at a time to make things easy for us both.
1. We revised the background color from a teal blue to a more true blue. The new pantone color is named in the
attached rendering.
2. We are removing the frame attached to the building to avoid making changes to it. Instead,we will hang the
sign with brackets hidden behind the frame. The new colors are blue, green, gold, white, and pink. The green
and pink both have gradients on them. There is a precedent for gradients starting with the Cazon Tropical sign
that was put in.There was a gradient of blue and a gradient of orange to pink. You'll find an example of this sign
in the "FINAL RENDER" file attached. These gradients create multiple shades of each color and exceeds the five
color rule.
3. The leaves are an integral part of the design for the customer. The restaurant is going to serve Cuban food and
coffee. The tenant wishes to have a tropical element to the sign that will represent their brand. We are going to
remove the awkwardness of the sign and the frame by replacing the frame with new and hidden brackets. You
can see an example of this in the attached rendering. It will give the sign a more clean and professional look.
1
4. See point three. Frame will be removed.
In my attached rendering, I also went ahead and calculated the total square footage of the entire sign. It meets the
condition of less than 29 square feet.
I hope I answered all of your points. Please let me know if either of the attachments did not go through, as the one is a
larger file. I look forward to hearing back from you about the Guajiros' storefront sign.

Krystin,
Thank you for the additional sign information and clarifications. I have reviewed the submittal. The following revisions are
requested to make the proposal consistent with the Entrance Corridor Sign Guidelines and Comprehensive Sign Criteria.
1. Revise the sign background color to be consistent with the approved Comprehensive Sign Criteria for this shopping
center(see below). Approved background colors are blue(consistent with other blue backgrounds in the shopping
center)or mottled gray.
2. Revise the sign to limit colors to a maximum of five. (More than 5 colors are currently proposed: aqua, gold, white,
multiple shades of green, multiple shades of red, black.)
2
3. The Comprehensive Sign Plan anticipates regularly shaped sign panels; it does not allow for extensions beyond the
rectangular sign panel. Attaching the irregularly shaped sign to the rectangular frame results in an awkward,
makeshift appearance.Eliminate the leaves from the design.
4. Further clarify proposed changes to the existing black frame. Do you plan to fill the open frame with a black panel,
or will it remain open(except for the new sign)?
Please respond by email within 15 days of the date of this letter indicating whether you will or will not proceed with these
revisions.Your decision to make the revisions will suspend the 60-day review period associated with your original submittal.
If you choose to complete the revisions, please email the revised drawings to me. If you choose not to proceed with these
revisions, staff will be unable to approve your application. Failure to respond to this letter shall be presumed to be a request
to proceed to action on the application without further revisions.
If you have any questions about this action, please contact me as soon as possible.
Thank you.
