Dear Mr. Pohl:
We have reviewed all of your comments from September 17, 2018 and made the necessary
revisions. Please find our responses to the comments below in bold lettering.
Engineering Comments:
1. Refer to Albemarle County Design Standards Manual for permitting requirements.
Acknowledged.
2. Provide a set of drawings showing:
a. All proposed development/work to occur within the floodplain, including grading
(existing/proposed), improvements, etc.,
Sanitary Sewer work within the floodplain is shown on the Layout Plan, sheet C4.0 of
the VSMP plans and the Storm drain work within the floodplain is shown on Grading &
Drainage Plan, sheet C5.0 of the VSMP plans.
b. Flood Hazard Overlay District information (limits of floodplain, floodway, flood
elevations, FRIM panel #, and the flood zone).
Floodplain, floodway, and flood zone are shown on Existing Conditions, sheet C2.0.
FIRM and flood elevation has been added to the Cover, sheet C0.0.
3. Remove the County Engineers (CE) name from the application. Instead, state that what
you are proposing meets the floodplain regulations and why, not that the CE said it was
okay.
The application has been revised.
4. Submit a no -rise certification.
A no -rise certification letter has been provided.

For the Lighthouse Instruments project disturbance in the flood plain is limited to utility trenching for
connection to a stormwater pipe outfall into Moores Creek and a sanitary connection to the existing
sanitary sewer main. All disturbed ground will be restored to the existing grade and revegetated when
work is complete. No fill will occur within the floodplain. It is my opinion that these activities will not
increase the flood elevation.
