HomeMy WebLinkAboutZTA201800004 Resolution - Board of Supervisors 2018-10-0317 _Y�IlI���[I] � 1►Y Y �1►Y � WHEREAS, the Albemarle County Zoning Ordinance currently classifies beekeeping as an agricultural operation use; and WHEREAS, Strategy 11 a of the Development Areas Chapter of the Albemarle County Comprehensive Plan states that the County will study ways to allow beekeeping and other forms of agriculture in the Development Areas without harming the safety, welfare, and enjoyment of adjoining property owners; and WHEREAS, it is desired to explore the possibility of permitting beekeeping as a by right use in the County's residential zoning districts with supplementary zoning regulations that provide measures designed to protect the safety, welfare, and enjoyment of adjoining property owners. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT for purposes of public necessity, convenience, general welfare, and good zoning and development practices, the Board of Supervisors hereby adopts a resolution of intent to consider amending Albemarle County Code Chapter 18, Sections 5, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, and any other sections of the Zoning Ordinance deemed to be appropriate to achieve the purposes described herein; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT the Planning Commission shall hold a public hearing on the zoning text amendment proposed by this resolution of intent, and make its recommendations to the Board of Supervisors, at the earliest possible date.
