Review #3
Dear Mr. Anderson:
The Department of Transportation, Charlottesville Residency Transportation and Land Use
Section, has reviewed the above referenced plan as submitted by Shimp Engineering, P.C., dated
November 1, 2017, revised February 01, 2019 and offers the following comment.
The Comments below still need to be addressed from the previous review in August 2018.
Land Use
1. Crozet Court cul-de-sac; for circular turnarounds on short Iow volume residential cul-de-
sac streets, the 45 ft. minimum radius may be reduced to 30' feet when specifically
approved by the locality in consultation with emergency services. Please provide
documentation on approval from emergency services.
2. Please change labeling of Street from Park Place to Crozet Court on all sheets.
3. Sidewalk is outside of right of way and will not be eligible for maintenance.
4. The right of way width shown on the typical sections is not reflected on the layout sheets.
5. Drainage structures A4 to A3 recommend relocating to A4A. Should be perpendicular to
roadway.
6. Please change labeling on profile sheet C6; from Agatha Court to Crozet Court.
7. All road plans must have a design speed of 25 mph. Typical sections show 20mph and
profiles show 15 mph. Please revise accordingly. All designs must meet SSAR
requirements as found in Appendix B 1 of the Road Design Manual.
Please provide copy of the revised Road Plans along with a comment response letter. If
further information is desired, please contact Willis C. Bedsaul at 434-422-9866.
