This barricade is to be placed at the end of all dead end streets.

The reflectorized area shall have a smooth., sealed anon
psuiated lane material
outer surface. The predominant color for other barricade components Shan be white, except
that unpainted galvanized metal or aluminum components may be used. Because of their
vulnerable position and possible hazard they could create, barricades should be constructed
of light weight materials and have no rigid stay bracing.
Planks are to be fastened to posts with 2 - 3/8" x 8 1/2"carriage bolts and Rashers or
with 2 - 7/18"x 4" lag screws and washers. Bolts and screws are not to be placed closer
than 2" from the edge of planks.
The following note shall appear on all plans: "The barricade shall be removed at such time
as the need no longer exists, as determined by the Director." If the barricade is within
VDOT H/W. a permit is needed for its removal.

INCLUDED IN THE BELVEDERE PHASE I ROUGH GRADING, ESCM, AND SWM PLAN. THE BIOFILTER DESIGN FOR
FACILITY #5 IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE AFOREMENTIONED PLAN, SO ITS DESIGN HAS BEEN INCORPORATED INTO
THIS PLAN.
FACILITY #5 & BIOFILTER A:
STORMWATER FACILITY #5 IS A BIOFILTER DESIGN WITH STORAGE TO ATTENUATE THE 2—YR AND 10—YR
STORMS. THE BIOFILTER IS DESIGNED TO CONTAIN RUNOFF FROM 1.0" OF RUNOFF FROM THE IMPERVIOUS
SURFACES IN THE WATERSHED. THE BIOFILTER IS SPLIT INTO TWO PORTIONS: BIOFILTER A AND FACILITY #5.
THE LONG AND NARROW BIOFILTER (BIOFILTER A) CONTAINS A FOREBAY AREA AND A BIOFILTER AREA
SEPARATED BY A STONE WEIR WALL. THE FOREBAY IS SIZED FOR 0.25" OF RUNOFF FROM THE IMPERVIOUS
SURFACES WITHIN THE WATERSHED. THE BIOFILTER CONTAINS A 6—INCH PERFORATED PVC UNDERDRAIN SYSTEM
THAT OUTLETS INTO THE RISER STRUCTURE AT THE END OF THE BIOFILTER. THE MAXIMUM WATER QUALITY
PONDING DEPTH IN BIOFILTER A IS DESIGNED TO BE 1.0' BEFORE OVERFLOWING INTO THE RISER.
THE OVERFLOW AND UNDERDRAIN FOR BIOFILTER A OUTLETS INTO FACILITY #5, WHICH IS DESIGNED TO
ATTENUATE THE 2—YR AND 10—YR STORM PEAK FLOW RATES. FACILITY #5 IS A DETENTION FACILITY AND
BIOFILTER WITH AN UNDERDRAIN BUILT INTO THE BOTTOM AREA. FACILITY #5 IS DESIGNED TO HAVE A
MAXIMUM WATER QUALITY PONDING DEPTH OF 1.0' BEFORE IT OVERFLOWS INTO THE FINAL RISER STRUCTURE.
THE DESIGN OF THE RISER STRUCTURE IN FACILITY 5, INCLUDING ROUTING COMPUTATIONS, IS INCLUDED WITH
THE BELVEDERE PHASE I ROUGH GRADING, ESCM, AND SWM PLAN.
ROUTING:
ROUTING RESULTS ARE INCLUDED ON DWG C-24. SINCE THE DRAINAGE AREA FOR BIOFILTER A AND FACILITY
#5 ARE NEARLY THE SAME, THE POST —DEVELOPMENT HYDROGRAPH USED FOR DESIGNING FACILITY #5 IN THE
BELVEDERE PHASE I ROUGH GRADING, ESCM, AND SWM PLAN WAS ALSO USED IN THE CURRENT PLAN FOR
DESIGNING BIOFILTER A. THE POST—DEVEOPMENT HYDROGRAPH WAS ROUTED THROUGH THE FOREBAY AND THE
RESULTING HYDROGRAPH WAS ROUTED THROUGH BIOFILTER A. BOTH FACILITIES ADEQUATELY PASS THE 100—YR
STORM EVENT WITH A MINIMUM OF 2.0' OF FREEBOARD.

MEASURES HAVE BEEN IMPLEMENTED. BIORETENTION FILTERS MUST BE PROTECTED FROM ALL SEDIMENT
LOADS TO PREVENT MALFUNCTION. ALL BIOFILTATION AREAS WILL REMAIN "OFF—LINE" FROM STORMWATER
INFLOW UNTIL THEIR RESPECTIVE DRAINAGE AREAS ARE FREE FROM LOOSE SEDIMENTS WHICH COULD WASH
INTO THE FACILITY. IN ADDITION, ALL CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES IN THESE AREAS MUST BE MINIMIZED TO
REDUCE COMPACTION OF IN —SITU SOILS, WHICH SHALL BE CORDONED OFF TO PREVENT ACCIDENTAL
COMPACTION BY EQUIPMENT DURRING THE REMAINDER OF THE CONSTRUCTION PHASE IN THAT AREA.
BIOFILTER SEQUENCE OF CONSTRUCTION

1. INSTALL EROSION AND SEDIMENT CONTROL MEASURES FOR THE SITE AS INDICATED IN THE BELVEDERE
PH.1 BLOCKS 3, 4A, 5A, 6B AND 9A, EROSION AND SEDIMENT CONTROL PLAN.
2. GRADE SITE TO ELEVATIONS SHOWN ON PLAN. INITIALLY, THE BASIN FLOOR MAY BE EXCAVATED TO
WITHIN ONE FOOT OF ITS FINAL ELEVATION. EXCAVATION TO FINISHED GRADE AND CONSTRUCTION OF
BIOFILTER WEIRS SHALL BE DEFERRED UNTIL ALL DISTURBED AREAS WITHIN THE WATERSHED HAVE BEEN
STABILIZED AND PROTECTED.
3. COMPLETE CONSTRUCTION ON THE WATERSHED AND STABILIZE ALL AREAS DRAINING TO THE BIOFILTER.
4. REMOVE PHASE I SEDIMENT CONTROL DEVICES AT DIRECTION OF DESIGNATED INSPECTOR.
5. INSTALL PHASE II EROSION AND SEDIMENT CONTROL MEASURES FOR BIORETENTION AREA.
6. REMOVE ALL ACCUMULATED SEDIMENT AND EXCAVATE BIOFILTER AREA TO PROPOSED DEPTH. USE
RELATIVELY LIGHT, TRACKED EQUIPMENT TO AVOID COMPACTION OF THE BASIN FLOOR. AFTER FINAL
GRADING IS COMPLETED, DEEPLY TILL THE BASIN FLOOR WITH ROTARY TILLERS OR DISC HARROWS TO
PROVIDE A WELL —AERATED, HIGHLY POROUS SURFACE TEXTURE.
7. INSTALL FILTER FABRIC AT THE BIOFILTER FLOOR OVERLAPPING A MINIMUM OF 12 INCHES. INSTALL
A 6 INCH LIFT OF UNDERDRAIN GRAVEL (AASHTO M43) AND LIGHTLY COMPACT WITH LANDSCAPING
ROLLER. INSTALL UNDERDRAIN PIPING, CLEANOUTS AND APPORTENANCES IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE
PIPE MANUFACTURER SPECIFICATIONS. INSTALL A 2 FOOT LIFT ON TOP OF UNDERDRAIN SYSTEM AND
LIGHTLY COMPACT WITH LANDSCAPING ROLLER. WRAP FILTER FABRIC AROUND ALL UNDERDRAIN GRAVEL.
8. FILL BIOFILTER AREA WITH LUCK STONE BIOFILTER MIX AS SHOWN IN THE PLANS AND DETAILED IN THE
SPECIFICATIONS
9. INSTALL VEGETATION AND GROUND COVER SPECIFIED IN THE PLANTING PLAN FOR BIORETENTION AREA.
INSTALL MULCH LAYER IF CALLED FOR IN THE DESIGN.

UNDERDRAIN SYSTEMS SHALL BE COMPOSED OF 6—INCH PVC PIPE (SCHEDULE 40) OR APPROVED EQUAL.
UNDERDRAIN CONNECTIONS
PIPE SECTIONS SHALL BE COUPLED USING SUITABLE CONNECTION SOCKET —WELDED JOINTS. FIELD CONNECTIONS
TO STORMDRAIN STRUCTURES AND PIPES SHALL BE SEALED WITH POLYMER GROUT MATERIAL THAT IS CAPABLE
OF ADHERING TO SURFACES. UNDERDRAIN PIPE SHALL BE CAPPED (AT STRUCTURE) UNTIL COMPLETION OF SITE.
UNDERDRAINS CONNECTED DIRECTLY TO A STORM DRAINAGE STRUCTURE SHALL BE NON —PERFORATED FOR A
DISTANCE OF AT LEAST 5 FEET FROM THE STRUCTURE INTERFACE TO AVOID POSSIBLE PIPING PROBLEMS.
UNDERDRAIN PERFORATIONS
UNDERDRAIN PERFORATIONS SHALL BE X" PERFORATIONS, 6" CENTER TO CENTER, ALONG TWO OR THREE
EQUALLY SPACED LONGITUDINAL ROWS. PERFORATIONS SHALL BE PLACED CLOSEST TO THE INVERT OF THE PIPE
