Dear Mr. Stone :
This letter is in reference to this offices ' meeting
with Mr . Carroll N . Ballard on Monday , November 24 , 1969
about the business sign located on Safeway property
(Tax Map 61W , Parcel 6(4) and 6 ( 2) in Albemarle County ,
Virginia .
As stated in the appeal to the Board of Zoning Appeals ,
your firm is requesting the Board to grant a 15 foot variance
from the minimum setback of 30 feet where your company ' s
property adjoins the right-of-way of the Virginia Department
of Highways . Attached is a copy of this appeal and a copy of
the signed affidavit declaring that Safeway must notify all
abutting property owners at least five ( 5 ) days prior to the
hearing which will be held on Tuesday , December 9 , 1969 at
5 : 30 P . M. in the County Office Building . Attached also is a
copy of the letter to Mr . Ballard notifying him of this meeting
and a copy of the Section of the Zoning Ordinance pertaining
to this .
Due to this request , a check in the amount of twenty
dollars ( $20 . 00) must be forwarded to this office to cover
the cost of advertisements to the general public .

If the Board of Zoning Appeals does in fact deny your
request to allow a 15 foot variance , it will be necessary for
your firm to relocate the sign in question to a point 30 feet
from the property line which abutts the highway right-of-way .
It is desirable that Mr. Ballard , you , or someone from
Safeway attend the previously mentioned meeting .
If further information is needed concerning this matter ,
please contact this office at your convenience . Our staff
will be most happy to assist you in any way we can .
