Jessica - I have reviewed the above -noted Architectural Review Board sign application. The drawings you submitted are
scanned and attached for quick reference. The following revisions are requested to make the proposal consistent with the
Entrance Corridor Sign Design Guidelines.
Regarding the wall signs:
1. The proposed white face channel letter color meets approved Comprehensive Sign Criteria for color.
2. ARB Sign Guidelines indicate the sign should not overcrowd the architectural element, the wall, or the sign area.
Just how well the sign fits within the brick sign area cannot be adequately determined from the photo -rendering
provided in the application. Provide a drawing showing the sign within the brick sign band area and the distance
from the top, bottom and sides of the sign to the edge of the brick sign band. The sign should be centered vertically
between the brick edge (above the glass windows below) and the round decorative element directly above (see
existing condition below) A minimum of 6" of brick should show at the ends of the sign, more would be appropriate
as well.
Revise the wall sign drawings to:
a. Indicate whether or not the Sherwin Williams logo will illuminate and how it will illuminate (e.g. internal
LED).
b. Indicate the closest Pantone color number equivalent for the red in the Sherwin Williams logo.
c. Include a latest revision date on all sign drawings.
d. Include the following note limiting the intensity of the LED internal illumination.
The level of illumination provided by the LED lights will not exceed the illumination produced by a single
stroke of 30 milliamp (ma) neon.
Regarding the tenant panel sign:
4. Approved Comprehensive Sign Criteria colors for the tenant panels include Sandalwood Beige, Burgundy, White
and Black. While the drawing appears to show a black background, notes on the drawing refer to a "Sherwin
Williams Blue Background". The proposed blue background is not a permitted color.
5. Revise the tenant panel sign drawing to:
a. Show an approved color for the background. A black background would be appropriate.
b. Indicate the closest Pantone color number equivalent for the red in the logo.
c. Include the following note: "The tenant panel background shall be opaque, only the text and graphic shall
illuminate."
d. Include a latest revision date on all sign drawings.
Previously approved Comprehensive Sign Criteria for wall signs and tenant panel signs are attached for reference.
Please respond by email within 15 days of the date of this email indicating whether you will or will not proceed with these
revisions. Your decision to make the revisions will suspend the 60-day review period associated with your original
submittal. If you choose to complete the revisions, please email the revised drawings to me. If you choose not to proceed
with these revisions, staff will be unable to approve your application. Failure to respond to this letter shall be presumed
to be a request to proceed to action on the application without further revisions.
If you have any questions about this action, please contact me as soon as possible.
I know you are in a hurry to get this approved. I am here all day today and tomorrow (Friday). I will be back in the office
again next Wednesday, December 261h. I will be on the lookout for your revised emailed drawings so we can wrap this up.
