HomeMy WebLinkAboutARB201800144 Checklist 2018-09-10 Sep. 19, 2016 action letter The Albemarle County Architectural Review Board, at its meeting on September 19, 2016, completed a preliminary review of the above-noted request.The Board took the following actions. Regarding the conceptual design,the Board by a vote of 5:0,forwarded the following recommendation to the Board of Supervisors: 1/ ✓ The ARB has no objection to the increased sign area up to 154 square feet and sign height not to exceed 15 feet for this particular sign design in this particular location, subject to ARB review of the materials, colors, , illumination and landscaping. These features shall reinforce an appropriate scale along the EC and shall be . consistent with all EC sign guidelines. Review of these items can be completed with the review of the sign permit application. This application eliminates the possibility of having signage in addition to the two proposed. Regarding the sign permit application,the ARB offers the following comments for the next submittal: 1. LANDSCAPING ❑ 8.d Use ground cover, shrubs and/or trees to integrate freestanding signs into the overall site landscape. Use plants from the Albemarle County Recommended Plants List. SCALE AND SIZE ❑ 4.b Signs may not exceed the size,height and setback requirements as outlined in Section 4.15 of the Albemarle (/ County Zoning Ordinance(unless the sign has received a variance). ❑ 8.c The structure of a monument sign shall not overwhelm the sign. The structure and the sign that it supports must be in proportion to each other. SIGN LETTERING AND TYPEFACE ❑ 4.d Lettering should be in proportion(font size and typeface style) to the sign and the building. Use of three typefaces or less. Additional typefaces may be approved if they contribute to a J i balanced, legible,unified sign design.
