HomeMy WebLinkAboutARB201800042 Review Comments 2018-03-29Heather McMahon From: Heather McMahon Sent: Thursday, March 29, 2018 9:43 AM To: 'Tom Mullin' Subject: RE: ARB2018-42: Kelly Services sign Tom, To clarify number 4 in my original email — I am asking about the opaqueness of the cabinet sign ("Services") not the channel letter sign ("Kelly"). The application asks when a cabinet sign is proposed that the areas that are to be opaque and those that are to be translucent/illuminated be marked on the sign drawing. However, in the email you have answered my question about whether the white background of "Services" will be opaque (yes) and whether the text of "services" will be translucent (yes). This email will suffice as a record. In regard to number 3, what I was trying to convey was that other applicants have provided paint samples of the raceway color so that I can review them. With only a statement of intention and without a color sample, I can only make it a condition of your CoA that the raceway color match the existing wall color, which I will do in this case since a color sample has not been provided. Number 2: the sign height above grade is how high the sign is above the ground. Depth of the sign 5" 2. Sign height above grade 3. Raceway color specified (since you've included the note that the raceway will match the wall color, I will make that a condition of the CoA) To match as best possible a Pantone color of brick 4. Indication on internally illuminated cabinet signs which areas are opaque and which are translucent/illuminated Acrylic letters are white, no color, so translucent to white 5. Manufacturer cut sheets (although these are meant for external light fixtures, I would like to know at least the color and wattage of the LEDs proposed for internally illuminated signs) Checking with my fabricator I'm really writing to bring to your attention a standard of the Comprehensive Sign Plan for this parcel and to get, in return, clarification from you. The CSP states that box [cabinet] signs — such as what you are proposing for "Services" — can be approved as secondary signs, but must have an opaque background. You have initialed this statement, also, on the template. So, do you intend for the white background of the word "services" to be opaque? Yes Will the black letters be translucent? Yes Please clarify this last point about the cabinet sign at your earliest convenience and I will proceed with the review of this sign.
