Gentlemen:
As residents of West Park Drive, we have an interest in the
matter of the 4-plex development at the corner of West Park and
Barracks Road. In addition to the notice of the hearing which appeared
in the Daily Progress, we have also been visited by Mr. Wenger, our
neighbor, and Mr. Hewitt representing the developer, Rivanna Construc-
tion Company. Unfortunately, we will not be able to attend the hearing
since we will be away on vacation.
However, with this letter, we would like to register our prefer-
ence in the matter. In our opinion the single story units being con-
structed regardless of any set-back considerations are to be preferred
since they would seem to add to our neighborhood rather than detract.
Although they have not been completed, we judge from the photographs
of the similar units that have been built to this design is preferable
to multi-story or townhouse designs.
With respect to the set-back distance, if these buildings are in
violation, we do not see how they adversely affect the neighborhood. Also,
if they are in violation, we cannot see how they might adversely affect
street safety as they are now located.
We prefer that the variance requested be granted and trust that you
will consider our opinion in your proceedings. Thank you.
Sincerely,

Mr. and Mrs. R. A. Lunsford
