Please let me know if you want to send revised drawings with a reinstated logo in addition to the required note; it would mean changing page 3 and the attached drawing as well. Thanks for your questions on the TD Ameritrade sign. I'm providing some answers and clarification, as we discussed on the phone today. 1. Regarding the light fixture cut sheets, illumination type, and intensity, this information is only needed for external light fixtures. The sign application/checklist should have been updated to make this clear, but it was not. We'll make that correction this week. I'm sorry for the confusion. 2. In this case, given that we are working with guidelines and that the current view from the EC is somewhat restricted, the comment on letter size("the letters are too small for the sign band")can be taken as a recommendation; it is not a requirement. 3. The ARB revised the CSP for Rivanna Ridge in 2016 to allow logos for businesses other than Giant. The change was documented in the Jimmy John's sign application file, but the CSP document was not updated. That's my fault. I apologize for the confusion. 4. Determining how much"centering"of a sign is required can be tricky when the sign contains multiple and different parts. In this case, given that we are working with guidelines and that the current view from the EC is somewhat restricted,I think there is enough flexibility available to allow the centering as proposed. I think this just leaves the note about milliamps to be added to the sign drawing. ("The level of illumination provided by the LED lights will not exceed the illumination produced by a single stroke of 30 milliamp(ma)neon.") If you have other questions or if I can provide further clarification, please let me know. Thanks. I should be sending that email this afternoon or tomorrow morning at the latest; unfortunately, now I have to prepare for some afternoon meetings. Also, could you tell me why only white LED's are allowed? I do not see any notes dictating illumination color on the Comprehensive Sign Review(attached). I will ask TD Ameritrade to update the drawing to include the note regarding 30mA neon. I will inform them of the other requested changes (size and alignment on raceway) and see how they want to proceed. I will be in touch as soon as I hear back from my client. Best, Melissa From: Pete Foster<PFoster@htsva.com> Sent: Friday, February 23,2018 11:40 AM To: Melissa Symmes Cc:Stewart Wright(maycraft2300@gmail.com); Beth Robinson Subject:TD Ameritrade Sign Revisions Melissa, I wanted to reach out about this and some of the changes or differences I have noticed just recently with the permit requirements and or processes. I have operated Hightech Signs since our start in 1989 and have seen almost three decades of changes in the permitting requirements, which is understandable, provided that standard is brought about through the proper channels and procedures. Much like the way I cannot treat one employee differently than another, the county cannot force certain restrictions or requirements on one sign applicant over another. Hightech Signs is not the end user, we are merely performing a task for a customer, and our customers are noticing this as well. In your letter to Beth, I have noticed a couple of concerns; 1 immisum 0 1. You are r manufacturer's"Cut Sheets"of the LED's. When did this become a requirement? Do you just mean to ask for a rendering with the usual diagram of an LED channel letter? If so, please see pg. 2 of TDAM-LTR-463-IL-SF- 014H-X.pdf attachment 2. You ask us to describe the illumination type, intensity and color, but then you specify that it should be LED, no brighter than a single stroke of 30 mA neon and specify that it has to be white. On pg.2 of TDAM-LTR-463-IL-SF-014H-X.pdf attachment you will see that red LED's are proposed. Red LED's are standard for red channel letters. The Comprehensive Sign Criteria for this center does not state that the LEDs must be white. Can you tell me where I might find County regulations regarding LED color? 3. You mention that the letters are too small for the sign band at 30"tall.The "S" in Scottrade that is up there currently is 25" and I have attached a picture of the sign. If Scottrade was allowed to have a 25"tall letter, then I assume TD Ameritrade can have a letter that size too, provided it does not exceed their square footage? 4. 18" channel letters will be more expensive. I don't mean to imply that TD Ameritrade can't afford a larger sign, but many customers can not. 5. Our clients original design had a channel letter logo at the front of the sign. The comprehensive sign criteria states that for all tenants who are not"GIANT", only channel letters are allowed (No logo/graphics boxes). Other tenants in this shopping center have channel letter logos made into a their sign (Jimmy John's,Sprint, 9Round).Was this just a mistake? I can understand things being overlooked, but the regulations must be enforced consistently. 6. You mention that the sign must be "centered on the raceway and, thereby, the sign band". The customer's logo is designed to justify the "Ameritrade" to the top of the"TD" logo element. Please let me know the County's stance on this. I am sure the idea is to try to keep everything as fair to all, while still keeping in the confines, but it seems like we are not and I have to answer these questions to my customer. Digital copies are acceptable, and even preferred, if that is easier for you. We see that you made revisions to the logo on page 3 of the Site Brandbook, however, the next page did not reflect these changes (I have attached the page that needs to be amended).
