I wouldn't recommend approval of the wall sign to the ARB and I would be surprised if the ARB approved it. Can the existing wall sign be refaced? Note that an illuminated background can't be approved for a new sign or a refacing. It isn't just an EC guideline. It is an ordinance requirement. I've copied the section below. (4.15.7.c)This is for the wall sign and the tenant panel. Please let me know if I should proceed with a denial letter for the wall sign, or if your customer will want to resubmit an approvable design. Thanks. Margaret 1 0 0 n 4.15.17 SIGN ILLUMINATION Each sign shall be subject to the following: a. Illuminated signs. Answers to your questions are below: Regarding the tenant panel for the freestanding sign: 1. Yes.The background color is PMS 109. 2. I believe that sign is illuminated. 3. The material is acrylic. Regarding the wall sign: 4. This is a new sign. 5. The sign does not meet the comprehensive sign criteria. 6. The background is intended to illuminate. ( The customer wanted to try to obtain approval (they were informed of the regulations) because the new sign is essentially the same as what is existing. In your opinion, if they decided to take their application before the board, do you think the board would allow the cabinet sign and/or illuminated background? 2 Thanks! Is the yellow background for the tenant panel PMS 109 like the wall sign? 2. Is the tenant panel internally illuminated? 3. What is the material of the tenant panel? Regarding the wall sign: 4. This looks like a new wall sign. Is that correct? 5. The sign type does not meet the approved comprehensive sign criteria for this building. If it is a new sign, I can't approve it. 6. The proposal shows an illuminated background, which can't be approved.
