The petitioner_request_that the said Board doth grant:
A variance in paragraph 6-3 (Setback Regulations) of the Albemarle
County Zoning Ordinance, to allow applicant to locate a business
sign closer than thirty (30) feet from Route 29 North right of way.
The applicant_make_this request because:
The problems with the site involved are twofold: As you approach
the property from Charlottesville, traveling north on Route 29,
your view of our new building is hampered by the topography of the
land and obscured by the presence of a large amount of evergreen
trees and a "property for sale" sign on the property to the south.
These same trees would block the view of a sign if it were set back
30 feet in accordance with the Zoning Ordinance. The second
problem is that, due to the fart that we are located out away from
the city, traffic has reached its maximum legal speed at that point.
With traffic going by so fast, it will be hard to observe a sign
set back from the _highway. In addition, location at any other place
would interfere with the ingress and egress of automobiles into the
parking ar a.
