The Board of. Zoning Appeals of Albemarle County:
Gentlemen;
I should like to explain the circumstances
involved in bringing before you VA-74-34.
When the house at 2208 Dominion Drive was built
for as by Clover Construction Company in 1962, we were
not aware that the side porch was closer than it should
have been to the lot line. No complaint has ever been
made by any of the neighbors. Over the years we have
tried to keep .this wooden porch painted and have had
several boards replaced, as recently as last year. Now
we find that more boards are rotten, and the frame itself
i riddled with bumblebee holes. The house does not have
a garage so that storage has 'been a problem, with the lawn
sower being stored in the open, under the porch.
Now that the need, for safeb -'s sake as well as
visual impact, has arisen to repair the entire structure,
we should like to use brick ana concrete in order to Hake
a permanent replacement. The present width has been
barely adequate, so we are asking for an additional 2-+feet.
This would provide space for the sower and a bicyels. Cons-

ruction will not begin until this appeal is acted upoa.
If this petition is denied, the porch would have
to be replaced to the original dimensions. This would
cause a hardship as the space taken by the brisk and
cinderblock wall would limit the inside ,width available
for storage, yet constuction costs would be practically
the same.
I do believe that our proposal will be an
attractive addition to the neighborhood, ,and request that
you grant this variance.

Gentlemen,
This is with reference to Va. 74-34 for George M. and Joan E.
Graves. As an adjacent property owner I can see no reason why I should
object to this request. However I would like to express the hope that
the drainage pipes from this new property improvement will be slanted
in such a way that the drainage runs away from my house and not directly
towards it. I have expressed this hope to Mr. and Mrs. Graves and they
are in agreement.
