business sign in an M-1 Industrial Zone
The applicant make this request because:
Business is worldwide. Visitors were unable to find facility.
Si on building cannot be seen from road. A sign placed off the
R/wthe proper distance would be located in the driveway in front
of the building and therefore cannot be done.

Dear Ms. Fleshman:
Today we received via registered mail a notice as an
adjoining property owner of Ridge Electronics of application for
variance of 40 feet from the requested 50 foot setback on a
business sign in front of their building.
We would like to remind the County of Albemarle that when
the Watson Corporation originally put up the Avon Street property
for use by the Hamilton Paper Corporation, the Hamilton Paper
Corporation and the Watson Corporation made the same request
about the Hamilton sign.
As we recall, the decision at that time was that we must
obey to put setback requirement, which we did.
Therefore, it would certainly be our feeling that if this
same request was denied the lessee of this property, the same
50 foot setback requirement should be observed by all other
businesses in the same area and for the same reasons.

Dear Ms. Fleshman:
The Piedmont Virginia Community College Board will not be represented
at the public hearing of the Board of Zoning Appeals on May 14, 1974.
However, for your record the College would like to state that we have no
objection to the variance of the set back of a business sign petitioned by
Ridge Electronics provided the sign is to face Route 742 and will not be
visible from Interstate 64.
