Commissioner April I8, 2019 County of Albemarle Department of Community Development 401 McIntire Road Charlottesville, VA 22902 Attn: Paty Satemye Re: New Office Expansion- 618I Rockfish Gap Turnpike SDP-2019-00018 Review #1 Dear Ms. Satemye: The Department of Transportation, Charlottesville Residency Transportation and Land Use Section, has reviewed the above referenced plan as submitted by Blazer & Associates, dated March 25, 2019 and offers the following comment: Land Use 1. Please demonstrate that the existing grate inlet structure and 18" RCP is adequate in the post -development condition. 2. If the proposed grading within the right of way is essential to the water quality feature it should be removed from the right of way. Please add a note stating that VDOT is not responsible for maintaining the grading. 3. The total traffic turning left now equals I % and guidance from Traffic Engineering is that the 5% chart is valid. Considering the high Ievels of advancing and opposing traffic significant congestion delays and safety concerns are possible with even a small quantity of left turns. 4. Note; please remove all grass and pavement from edge of pavement to roadway. Please provide a copy of the revised plan along with a comment response Ietter. If further information is desired, please contact Willis C. BedsauI at 434-422-9866. A VDOT Land Use Permit will be required prior to any work within the right-of-way.
