At our entrance , the existing signs are necessary to in- form the public of the hours, rates , and nature of the historic site . it is not feasible to move the signs further from the right-of-way , because they would be hidden by the trees; nor can the trees be removed , because the 140 year old cedar drive is it- it ,l.r, ' 01-: -,T.n1P .,,---L--: :,ii -:-...--, -)-:' 7 ' i- - . the signs are not un- sightly , and we hope that the hoarri will permit them to remain. In regard to the small directional signs , numerous re- marks by our visitors have made it clear that these are too small to be readily noticeable by motorists , and do not give them ad- equate warning to slow down for the entrance .
