Mr. Charles Smith called in response to our letter.
He stated that he did not own or want the sign and that it was leased
to him by General Motors.
His position is that it is their responsibility.
I stated that he or someone would have to get a variance or the sign
would have to be removed.
He stated that he would contact the Regional Manager of GM and turn
it over to him.

Dear Mr. Smith:
The Board of Zoning Appeals has requested that this office
investigate the sign on this property to determine if it complies
with the Zoning Ordinance.
Mr. Evans, Zoning Inspector, has made an inspection and his
report indicates that the main sign is located 23'- 3" from the
centerline of Route 6 which would put it 3'- 11" from the right-
of-way. The ordinance requires 30'- 0".
It will be necessary for you to apply to the Board of Zoning
Appeals for a 26'- 0" variance. The setback is measured to the
edge of the sign structure (not the base of the support) .
Your original sign application was not approved and no
permit has been issued.
Please contact this office to discuss the measures that must
be taken to clear up this situation.

On an inspection made of subject property the
following measurements were obtained:
Route 6 - 50' right-of-way (25 ' from centerline)
Sign is located 29 ' 11" from the centerline of
Route 6, therefore, the sign is only 4 ' 11" off of
right-of-way. Needs a 26 ' variance.
Route 626 - 30' right-of-way (15' from centerline)
Sign is located 41 ' from the edge of pavement of
Route 626.
