Re: VA-79-22 & VA-79-38 Dear Mr. Edwards: This letter is in reference to your recent inquiry regarding a variance (VA-79-38) granted by the Board of Zoning Appeals in June, 1977. A variance (VA-79-22) was granted to you on April 13, 1977. This variance was granted allowing a variance of 88 square feet with a 5 foot height variance expiring one year from the time of installation and issuance of a sign permit. After the expiration date, the Board allowed a 35 square foot sign variance to comply with the 30 foot height requirement as per the Zoning Ordinance. This request was taken back to the Board in June of 1977. The Board tYen granted a permanent variance of 86 square feet with the following conditions: 1) That the sign not exceed 30 feet in height. 2) That the variance be limited to the existing GM & Honda signs and replacement of these signs shall comply with the terms of the Albemarle County Zoning Ordinance. I hope this clarifies any questions you may have had on the above variance requests. If I can be of any further assistance, please contact me. Sincerely, . Vaugh Director o Inspections & Zoning Administrator REV/gr cc: VA-79-22 & VA-79-38 Bill Edwards Oldsmobile Inc • May 26, 1977 County of Albemarle Zoning Department Att: Mr. J. Benjamin Dick Zoning Administrator 414 E. Market Street, Charlottesville, Virginia 22901 Dear Mr. Dick: On April 13, 1977, we were granted a temporary variance which would allow moving our present product signs (with mod- ification) from the city to our new site in the county. At the same time, a permanent variance was granted which would require the replacement of our present GM Identification sign with another smaller sign. We now have our cost and time penalties information from General Motors which will place a considerable hardship upon us. Therefore, we request a rehearing at the June 14th meeting of the Albemarle County Board of Zoning Appeals to consider the new evidence. We are enclosing our check for $20.00 as request- ed. Yours sincerely, William S. Edwards President WSE:bt enc. RECEIVED MAY 3 1 1977 315 West Main Street • Charlottesville,Virginia 22901 • 804 . 295-9193 vN-CY OF ALezili VO AA?, GRG N".0 RO•ERT E.
