Zoning Ordinance Requirement Side Yard. Side yards shall be a minimum of twenty (20) feet . Staff Comment The ordinance allows for detached accessory structures to be 5 feet from the property line. Other than this alternative, the applicant could build on the other side of the house, which would require relocation of his driveway. The staff inquires whether the applicant could possibly move the garage further back toward the end of the house and reduce the variance requested.
