Applicant requests relief from section 7-3 of the County Zoning Ordinance
to allow a business sign to be erected; a variance of 30 feet.
Zoning Ordinance Requirement
All structures, except signs advertising sale or rent of the property, shall
be located thirty (30) feet or more from the street right-of-way.
Staff Recommendation
The property is zoned B-1. Trees on the southbound lane of Route 29 and
site distance from the northbound lane would merit a setback variance. The
applicant has conducted the business for twenty odd years. The house the
applicant purchased is 20-24 feet from the state right-of-way. The staff
would recommend approval of a variance not greater than that which will
afford adequate site distance for safe road travel since the speed limit
is 55 mph.
