Miller & Rhoads Tax Map: 61, Parcels 129, 130, 132B, 132B(1) , 132, 132A, 133 61Z(3) , Parcel 1 Zoned: B-1 Existing Activity Charlottesville Fashion Square Proposed Variance The applicant requests relief from section 15A-6-2 of the Albemarle County Zoning Ordinance to allow three wall signs with a total aggregate area of 567 square feet; a variance of 367 square feet. Zoning Ordinance Requirements Business Signs: Wall: Provided: (a) if illuminated, no moving, flashing ' blinking, color-changing, or exposed, bare or uncovered neon illumination, or lighting; (b) the aggregate area of all such signs shall not exceed two hundred (200) square feet; (c) no portion of such sign shall be greater than thirty (30) feet from ground level or the eave line of the roof of the main building located on the premises upon which such sign is erected, whichever is greater. Staff Recommendations Unless the applicant can demonstrate a hardship, staff must recommend denial. Staff feels a smaller sign would adequately identify the busi- nesses in the Shopping Center.
