Commissioner April 23, 2019 County of Albemarle Department of Community Development 401 McIntire Road CharIottesviIle, VA 22902 Attn: Andrew Reitelbach Re: 1205 Crozet Avenue- Initial site plan SDP-2019-00019 Review #1 Dear Mr. Reitelbach: The Department of Transportation, Charlottesville Residency Transportation and Land Use Section, has reviewed the above referenced plan as submitted by B. Clark Gathright, LLC, dated March 25, 2019, offers the following comments: Land Use 1. Please see appendix F, page F-23, of the Road Design Manual for minimum spacing standards for Commercial Entrances, Intersections, and Medians Crossovers. Please see figure 4-11. As proposed, the entrance doesn't meet the spacing requirements of 250'ft., to the intersection of Library Avenue. An access management exception is required. 2. Please provide geometry for the existing entrance. 3. Please add an additional one-way do not enter sign for the other side of entrance. Please note that the final site plan must show conformance with the VDOT Road Design Manual Appendices B (1) and F, as well as any other applicable standards, regulations, or other requirements. Please provide two copies of the revised plan along with a comment response letter. If further information is desired, please contact Willis C. Bedsaul at 434-422-9866. A VDOT Land Use Permit will be required prior to any work within the right-of-way.
