HomeMy WebLinkAboutARB201700099 Review Comments 2017-08-18 Margaret Maliszewski From: Margaret Maliszewski Sent: Friday, August 18, 2017 8:02 AM To: 'The Graphic Garage' Subject: RE: Carbon - Taco Train Mike, I have a few comments: 1. The Comp Sign Plan for Woodbrook Shopping Center requires that the background of the sign be a shade of blue that coordinates with the shades of blue used for the backgrounds of existing signs in the shopping center or a mottled gray (as in the Al Carbon sign). Here is a Link to the Woodbrook Comp Sign Plan. 2. The letters and logos look over-scaled for the sign face. I recommend additional "clear space" at the edges(i.e., reduce the size of the text and graphics). 3. Please revise the opaque background note to clarify that the background consists of everything that isn't the Taco Train words and the two train graphics. Thanks. Because the light fixture can be rotated, to meet ordinance requirements it must emit less than 3000 lumens. I can't confirm that from the information submitted. 1 *low *489410 Can you please indicate the proposed lamp type and lumens? (I apologize if these were specified and missed it.) We have reviewed your comment letter and made the appropriate remedies necessary to correct the issues you raised. In reviewing the attached revision(s) I think it is important to note that our initial design was based on some incorrect measurements. Hence, the images in our application were improperly scaled. As shown in the attached revision, the existing green sign actually measures 48" x 96". Having discussed your suggestions with the owner, we have proposed the change from an internally lit, box sign to a panel sign with external lighting we believe meets the ordinance requirements as outlined in the Albemarle County Code, Chapter 18, Section 4.17. We have also modified the design of the sign to maintain a comparable format to that of the existing sign. Measuring 90" wide, it provides additional space between the edges of the gable and upper corners of the sign. Please feel free to write or call with any questions you may have.
