CATEGORY IV ROAD 6" AGGREGATE BASE (EI-A) 3 " BM-2 1. 5" SM-2A COUNTY OF ALBEMARL.E DEPARTMENT OF ENGINEERING GENERAL CONSTRUCTION NOTES FOR SUBDIVISION ROADS PROPOSED FOR PRIVATE IMAINTENANCE Revised: March 1, 1992 1. The abbreviation V.D.O.T. made hereafter, refers to the Virginia Department, of Transportation. The -term County refers to the County of Albemarle, Virginia. 2. Prior to commencement of any construction within any existing public right-of-way, including connection to any existing road, a permit for said construction shall be obtained from V.D.O.T. This plan as drawn may not accurately reflect the requirements of the permidt, Where any discrepancies occur,, the requirements of the permit shall govern. 3. Construction inspection of all proposed roads wiittiin the development will be made by the County. The contractor must notify the Department of Engineering (296-5361) 48 hours in advance of the start of construction. 4. All materials and construction methods shall conform to current specifications and standards of V.D.O.T. unless; ot,,herwise rioted. All excavation for underground pipe installation muist comply with OSHA Standards for the Construction Industry (29 CFR Part 1926). 5. Erosion and siltation control measures shall be povided in accordance with the approved erosion control plan and must be installed prior, to any clearing, grading or other construction. 6. All slopes and disturbed areas to be fertilized, seeded and mulched. Maximum allowable fill or cut slope is 2:1. Where reasonably obtainable lesser slopes of 4:1 or better are to he achieved. 7. Surface drainage and pipe discharge must.be retained within the private right-of-way or within private easements prior to acceptance by the County. (All drainage outfall easements are to be extended to boundary line or a natural watercourse.) S. All drainage inlets shall have a 2-inch local depression. 9. Guardrail locations where shown hereon are approximate. Exact length, location appropriate end treatments will be field determined at the time of construction. Additional guardrail may be required at locations not shown when, in the opinion of the Director of Engineering or his designee, it is deemed necessary. When guardrail is required Jt shall be installed four (4) feet offset from the edge of pavement to the face of guardrail and shoulder, widths shall be increased to seven (7) feet. 10. Where urban cross sections are installed, all residential driveway entrances shall conform to V.D.O.T. CG-9A or CG-98. li. Where rural cross sections are installed, all residential driveway entrances shall conform to V.D.O.T. standard PE-1. 12. Paved, rip -rap or stabilization mat lined ditch may be required to stabilize a drainage channel when, in the opinion of the Director of Engineering or his designee, it is deemed necessary. 13. A minimum clear zone of eight (8) feet from the edge of pavement shall be maintained o all residential subdivision streets. 14. Compliance with the minimum I pavement width, shoulder width and ditch sections, as shown on the typical pavement section detail, shall be strictly adhered to. Exceptions will not be allowed. 15. Upon completion of the roadway construction, street name signs shall be installed by the developer, at all street intersections. Signs and the installation thereof shall conform to "Albemarle County Street Name Sign Requirements". The developer shall he responsible for maintenance of the signs until the roads have been accepted. 16. Road plan approval subject to final subdivision plat validation. Should the -final plat for this project expire prior to signing and recordation, then approval of these plans shall be null and void. 17. Traffic control or other regulatory signs or barricades shall be installed by the developer when, in the opinion of the Director of Engineering or his designee, they are deemed necessary in order to provide safe and convenient access to or -from the proposed development. All signs or other regulatory devices shall conform with the Virginia Manual for Uniform Traffic Control Devices, latest edition. 18. EASEMENTS ARE TO BE CENTERED ON AS -BUILT LOCATIONS OF MANHOLES AND STORM STRUCTURES. io, 20' EASEMENT NOTES AND TYPICAL EASEMENTS: 1) The entire Hunderstand private right of way is reserved for ingress & egress, and all utilities required for the development of lots. 2) A 51 drainage easement. is reserved outside and along the Hunterstand Court right of way as required to accommodate roadside ditches. 1. Work shall be, subject -to inspection byf -the Al�ernarle County Service Authority inspectors. The conitractor will be responsible for notifying the proper service authority officials at the start of the work. 2. The location of existing utilities across the line of the proposed work are not necessarily shown on -the plans and where shown, are only approximately correct. The c'botractor shall on his own initiative locate all underground lines and structures as necessary. 3. All me-terials and construction shall comply with General Water and Sewer Construction Specifications as adopted by the Albemarle County Service Authority on January 20, 1983, amended July 1, 1989. 4. Datum for all elevation shown in National Geodetic Survey. 5. The contractor shall be resposible for notifing "Miss Utiltiy" (1-800-552-7001) . 6. All water and sewer pipes shall have a mimimum of 3 feet of cover measured from the top of pipe, over, the centerline of the pipe, This includes all fire hydrant lines, service laterals and waterlines, etc. I. 20' wide easements, centered on the pipeline and appurtenances shall he dedicated to -the Albemarle County Service Authority, except where the line is in a public road right-of-way or an access easement, in which case the access easement shall also be dedicated as a utility easement. B. 3' mimimum separation required between water line and storm sewer culverts or 6" separation when waterline is insulated. Use 1/2" thick Therma-Cel Pipe insulation in 3'x 4' sheets as manufactured by Nomaca, Inc. or equally approved by Albemarle County Service Authority. Insulation to extend 5' beyond centerline of culvert in both directions or, 5' beyond ends of culvert whbn parallel. 9. Touch read meters are being used by the Albemarle County Service Authority. To accommodate these meters, meter lids will require a, 1 3/4" hole tapped into the center of the lid. Blind taps or plugs shall be provided to prevent debris from entering the box prior to meter :installation. 10. All water, and sewer appurtenances are to he located outside of roadside ditches, il. Certification that 95% compaction is obtained shall be provided for all -fill areas under water and sewer lines and appurtenances, This certification shall be signed by a Professional Geologist. The certification'shall state the exact area that the certification applies to. 12. Valves on deadend line shall be rodded to provide adequate restraint for the valve during a future extension of the line.
