The side nearest the road is approximately 23 feet within my pro- pery line , which is on a curve . Mr. Shaw, of your office, measured the corners of the proposed roof to be 52 feet an 48 feet from the center of the road at the nearest point . The road is 18 feet wide and paved. with. a shoulder and drainage ditch on each side . The road is a one mile circle ; each lot on this circle contains about 3 acres . This workshop is essential for continued maintenance and improv- ment of our home which. has no basement or storage area for tools or equipment . I am retired. Since purchasing this home I have spent most of my time and savings in efforts to improve its integrity and make it a pleasant and livable property . Thorough investigation has resulted in the designated site ( as shown on the plat) to be the on4r choice for the following reasons : The space on the opposite side of the house contains the septic tank, drain field and buried oil tank and therefore cannot be built upon. It is close enough to the house for quick access to the rear entrance in bad weather and to the front ent- rance in good weather, yet does not obstruct the light, air and view from the windows . It permits required drainage around the new building without adding to existing drainage problems around the main house which I am in process of correcting. 0 It is the best match to the difficult s]ipes of the land and requires minimun of excavation. It allows the preservation of the woods and. natural growth . It can be attached to the hose by a decorative connection and arch, thus is more aesthetically appropriate . It will add to the attractiveness, usefulness, and value of our home should we ever have to move in the future . I have already obtained the approval and agreement of my neighbors . , whose signatures you have . We would be very appreciative if you. would aprove this variance so I can have a place to work and store my tools when winter come . Elmer V . Perry, • Nifty w f 07, To : Board of Zoning Appeals County of Albemarle Department of Zoning • 414 East Market Street Charlottesville, Virginia . 22901 29 May 1979 We, the undersigned property owners on Overlook Drive • whose property lies adjacent or nearby the property of Elmer V. & Rellen F. Ferry, do indicate with our signature that we approve and agree with the proposed plan for a carport/workshop to be built adjacent to their home . And by our signatures below, we join in their request for a variance enabling them to situate the build- ing as in the attached plat . MI'. Hobbs / Yl ' • Mr. West zNi.(2)Lelfj • Mr. & Mrs .
