Dear Mr. Hurt:
This is in reply to your letter of 11/12/79 concerning
Charles DeKraff.
We will not be able to attending the hearing 11/20/79.
If this was a request to construct a shed 1 foot from our property
line we would of course appeal. But, since Mr. DeKraff has already
built his shed within 1 foot of our property line we guess the
neighborly think to do will be to let it stand as is. We hope
Mr. DeKraff will in the future consult with authorities on zoning
regulations.

Proposed Variance
The applicant requests relief from section 2-1--2 of the Albemarle County
Zoning Ordinance to allow a storage shed to be located one (1 ) foot from
the property line; a variance of 4 feet.
Zoning Ordinance Requirements
Accessory uses as defined; however, garages and other accessory structures,
such as carports, porches, and stoops attached to the main building shall
be considered part of the main building. No accessory building may be
closer than five (5) feet to any property line.
Staff Recommendation
Staff recommends denial unless the applicant can show demonstrable hardship.
Staff can see no problems in the building being located the required
distance from the side property line. The topography of the land is
level enough to locate the building the required distance without causing
any problems.
