Charlottesville Oil and Hauling Company Tax Map: 61W-02 Parcel : A-1 Zoned: B-1 Existing Activity Midal Muffler Proposed Variance The applicant seeks relief from section 7-3 of the Albemarle County Zoning Ordinance to allow a free-standing sign to be located 10 feet from the right-of-way of route 29 north; a variance of 20 feet and 25 feet from the right-of-way of Greenbrier Drive; a variance of 5 feet. Zoning Ordinance Requirements All structures, except signs advertising sale or rent of the property, shall be located thirty (30) feet or more from any street right-of-way. Staff Recommendation There is a Gulf sign that exist at the site. This sign identifies the type of gas the applicant will be selling. The applicant needs a second sign to identify his business, Midas Muffler, If the Board approves this variance, staff would recommend the following condition: 1 . That the total square footage of the two signs (Gulf and Midas) be limited to 100 square feet as in accordance with section 15A-6-1 of the Zoning Ordinance.
