I IITax Map: 065 Parcel: 39 Zoned: A-1 Existing Activity Storage Building Proposed Variance The applicant requests relief from section 2-6-2 of the Albemarle County Zoning Ordinance to allow a structure to be located at 10 feet from the right-of-way of Route 231, a side street; a variance of 20 feet. The applicant also seeks relief from section 2-5-2 to allow a structure to be located at 5 feet from the rear property line; a variance of 30 feet. Zoning Ordinance Requirement The side yard on the side facing the side street shall be thirty (301 feet or more for both main and accessory buildings. The underground cable runs parallel to Route 231 and 10 feet from the right-of-way of Route 231. Under- ground cable does not require a variance but this unit would have to meet the setback requirements because it is classified as a structure. The intent of the utility companies is to keep this underground cable as close as possible to the right-of-way without intruding too much on thehe propertyre ner and an limiting,the use of their land.
