Proposed Variance
The applicant requests relief from Section 10.4 of the Albemarle County
Zoning Ordinance to allow a carport to be located 7 feet from the front
property line; a variance of 68 feet.
Zoning Ordinance Requirement
Pursuant to Section 10.4, all structures shall be located seventy-five
(75) feet from the front property line.
Staff Recommendation
Staff cannot recommend approval unless applicant can show building
addition cannot be located at least in line with the dwelling unit,
which is only 40 feet from the road right-of-way, a non-conforming
structure. If this was accomplished, a variance would not be needed.
