Hurt (Virginia Land Company) & Monticello Home Builders Tax Map: 032A Parcel : 02-01 Zoned: C-1 Existing Activity Model House Proposed Variance The applicant requests relief from Section 21 .7. 1 of the Albemarle County Zoning Ordinance to allow a freestanding sign to be located one (1 ) foot from the State right-of-way; a variance of 29 feet. Zoning Ordinance Requirement Pursuant to Section 21 .7. 1 , Adjacent to public streets : No portion of any structure except signs advertising sale or rent of the property shall be erected closer than thirty (30) feet to any public street right-of-way. Staff Recommendations Visibility is somewhat hampered on the northbound lane of Rt. 29. This could probably be eliminated by the earth mound elevation being lowered. The sign could be erected higher in elevation. Staff has to recommend denial .
