You have been given notice that the sign for Olde Oak Court, either
has to be removed, or reduced in size to meet the County Ordinance.

Some dirt has been filled in around the base of the sign, but the
total area of the sign does not meet the requirements of sixty (60)
square feet (total area) .
Make any necessary changes to bring this sign into conformance
on or before July 30, 1982, so the violation may be abated and your
sign permit approved.

PROPOSED VARIANCE
The applicant requests relief from Sections 4. 15. 3.3 and 3.0 of the
Albemarle County Zoning Ordinance, to allow a subdivision sign to be
ninety-six (96) square feet; a variance of thirty-six (36) square feet.
ZONING ORDINANCE REQUIREMENT
Pursuant to Section 4. 15. 3.3, subdivision signs in an R-4 zone is a
permitted right. Pursuant to Section 3.0 Definitions; Subdivision Sign:
A sign, not illuminated, sixty (60) square feet or less in aggregate area,
identifying a subdivision and located thereon at the entrances to such
subdivision. Said sign shall not be greater in height than six (6) feet
and set back from any right-of-way for proper sight distance.
STAFF RECOMMENDATION
We find that the sign was errected prior to obtaining information in regard
to the allowable aggregate area. The possibility of making the sign to
conform to the ordinance requirement is feasible . We are unable to
recommend approval .
