PROPOSED VARIANCE
The applicant requests relief from Section 26. 10. 1 of the Albemarle County
Zoning Ordinance to allow an addition to the existing building to be 28
feet from the required 50 foot front setback; a variance of 22 feet.
ZONING ORDINANCE REQUIREMENT
Pursuant to Section 26. 10. 1 , adjacent to public streets: No portion of
any structure, except signs advertising sale or rental of the property,
shall be erected closer than fifty (50) feet to any public street right-
of-way.
STAFF RECOMMENDATION
The proposed addition would not be any closer to the right-of-way, and
in no way surpass the existing building setback. We find in no way
would it affect adjoining property. We could recommend approval on
that basis.

Dear Mr. Evans:
I would like to take this opportunity to file a complaint with Del Monte
Frozen Foods which is requesting relief from Section 26.10.1. This com-
plaint extends to the property owned by Elizabeth Haslam whom I represent
as Realtor.
For many years Morton, and now DelMonte, has maintained a very unsightly
property line to the north of the plant. The result is an unattractive
view from much of Crozet's residential community and from a large portion
of my farm, Braeburn.
We have invested a great deal on improvements to Braeburn, and believe
we are good neighbors to DelMonte. It is my belief that DelMonte should
plant the perimeter of it's parking lot for screening so that in the
future it will not be so unsightly for farm and residential neighbors.
