Phillips Tax Map: 061W Parcel: 01-B3 Zoned: CO EXISTING ACTIVITY Office Building PROPOSED VARIANCE The applicant requests relief from Section 21.7.1 of the Albemarle County Zoning Ordinance to allow a freestanding business sign to be located 22 feet from the right-of-way; a variance of 8 feet. ZONING ORDINANCE REQUIREMENT Pursuant to Section 21.7.1, adjacent to public streets: No portion of any structure except signs advertising sale or rental of the property shall be erected closer than thirty (30) feet to any public street right-of-way. STAFF RECOMMENDATION We find that the applicant does have other alternatives for identification of the business. We find no substantial hardship. We cannot make a favorable recommendation.
