PROPOSED VARIANCE
The applicant requests relief from Section 4.15.3.3 of the Albemarle
County Zoning Ordinance to allow an identification sign to be 48 square
feet; a variance of 46 square feet. The applicant also requests relief
from Section 14.3 to allow the sign to be located 1 foot from the right-
of-way; a variance of 24 feet.
ZONING ORDINANCE REQUIREMENT
Pursuant to Section 4.15.3.3, Identification Signs: Provided: (a) not
more than two (2) square feet in area; and (b) not more than one (1) on
any lot or premises. Pursuant to Section 14.3, all structures shall be
located twenty-five (25) feet from the front property line.
STAFF RECOMMENDATION
The location of the sign could be made to meet the setback. Our opinion
is that a variance is warrented for additional aggregrate area. We
would like to only recommend the board grant a variance for size.
