PROPOSED VARIANCE
The applicant requests relief from Section 10.4 of the Albemarle County
Zoning Ordinance to allow a freestanding sign to be located 32 feet from
the right-of-way; a variance of 43 feet.
ZONING ORDINANCE REQUIREMENT
Pursuant to Section 10.4, all structures shall be located 75 feet from the
front property line.
STAFF RECOMMENDATIONS
The church has an existing sign located in front of the church. To erect
the sign at the required 75 foot setback would locate it beyond the church
structure. They wish to replace the free-standing sign with a solid type
structure. The staff feels that the sign could not be seen from Route 250,
a scenic highway, and would not be detrimental to the adjacent properties.
