Proposed Variance
The applicant requests relief from Section 4.15.3.6 of the Albemarle County
Zoning Ordinance to allow 60 square feet aggregate area of freestanding
signs; a variance of 10 square feet, and to allow four (4) freestanding
signs; a variance of two (2) freestanding signs.
Zoning Ordinance Requirements
Pursuant to Section 4.15.3.6, business signs, freestanding or projecting:
provided: (b) the aggregate area of such signs shall not exceed fifty (50)
square feet and (d) no more than two (2) freestanding signs on any one (1)
lot or premises.
Staff Comments
The site will eventually accommodate three office buildings. A freestanding
entry business sign is proposed along with a directory sign in front of each
of the three buildings. (total 4)
We feel that an individual directory sign would be very informative for
patronize of the site (Madison Park) . Our opinion is that we find no
hardship for the additional ten feet aggregate area if the applicant is
allowed to have the 4 freestanding signs.
