subject to the following conditions:
1. Conditions of approval imposed by the Albemarle County Planning
Commission on May 27, 1980, remain in force;
2. Azaleas shall be 18-24" in height.

Proposed Variance
The applicant requests relief from Section 10.4 of the Albemarle County
Zoning Ordinance to allow a freestanding sign to be located 3 feet from
the front property line, a variance of 72 feet.
Zoning Ordinance Requirement
Pursuant to Section 10.4, all structures shall be located seventy-five
(75) feet from the front property line.
Staff Comments:
The church had two (2) signs erected on the site. A violation notice (letter)
was sent to them as of September 30, 1983. A variance application was made
by the church and one sign was allowed to remain for identification. The new
sign that the church wishes to erect is as shown in your information. Reviewing
the sight, we find that the sign could be located at the required 75 foot setback.
This church was developed under the rules of the RA zone, not like most of the
rural churches already established in the county on relative small parcels with
minimum setback. We find that this applicant warrants some relief. We recom-
mend a variance of 25 feet.

My letter is in reference to the signs located on the church site on Rt_ 743
adjoining the Rivanna Reservoir.
A sign permit has been applied for but cannot be issued because the sign is in . .
violation of the setback requirement.
You are given notice that the signs are in violation of the setback and will
have to be removed or relocated to the proper setbacks within twelve (12)
days from the date of mailing. To keep the signs at the present location
you would need to apply for a variance application to be heard by the Board
of Zoning Appeals.
The filing deadline for the next meeting is October 31, 1983 and the meeting
of the Board of Zoning Appeals would be held on November 15, 1983.
Please contact our office of your intentions regarding this matter.
