I need to work through the'paperwork and draft an approval letter for you, but you don't need to do anything at this
point. Existing bronze signs can remain. I want to spend a little time thinking through allowing two color options for new
signs—I need to make sure that is consistent with the guidelines. I'll get back to you on that.

Margaret,
I was travelling yesterday and apologize for not responding sooner. Thanks you for your help on this!
So we don't need to do anything further? Also,to be clear, I want to make sure that our current tenants can still use the
existing bronze or change to the new Everlasting. One tenant in particular is in the process of adding a sign and prefers
bronze. In hindsight, on the redline I should have put the Duranodic Bronze or Everlasting. While I doubt a new tenant
would want to use the Bronze, I'd still like to offer the choice.
Thanks!
Dave

I had an opportunity to review this with the ARB yesterday. They indicated that this change could be handled as a staff-
level review. That means you can avoid the application fee and an ARB meeting.Typically, you would bring the
application in, but since this one is so simple and there are no other submittals needed, I'll just print this out and give it
to our intake staff to get it processed. On the application, I will change the application type from "amendment to an
approved Certificate of Appropriateness," to Countywide Certificate of Appropriateness for"minor amendments..."so
intake will know no fee is required.

Hi Margaret,
Per our previous conversation and your email below, please find enclosed an ARB application for Luxor and redline of
our previous approved conditions. Once you have reviewed what we are proposing, please let me know what the next
steps would be.
Thanks,

Dave,
Regarding the Luxor signs:
The approved comprehensive sign criteria for the Luxor buildings is attached. I recommend making revisions to this
document to make clear what changes you are proposing. The ARB will need to take an action on your proposal, so
you'll want to submit an ARB application. Check the box for"amendment to an approved Certificate of
Appropriateness".
Regarding the Southside Shopping Center monument signs:
The sign regulations are found in section 4.15 of the zoning ordinance.Your zoning is PDSC, so go to 4.15.11 to view the
allowances for freestanding signs. See 4.15.11.a.8 for more info on tenant panels. Stewart Wright can help you with
these regulations. He can be reached at 434-296-5832 x3024 and swrieht2@albemarle.org and will be back in the office
on Tuesday.Any new or revised freestanding sign would require a new sign application, which includes staff level ARB
review.ARB sign guidelines can be found here.
If you have other questions, feel free to contact me again.
