Attached and below, please find some information regarding the `honeycomb' metal rainscreen for the Audi dealership,
in terms of reflectivity, etc. We rec'd one sample of this material today and are awaiting a sister sample with glass. Upon
receipt we'll deliver them both to you, along with brick, exterior tile, glass samples. ...hopefully by week's end
Ps....per the sample of honeycomb metal we have here in the office, it does not seem to be reflective. It has a rather dull
/matte finish
Thanks!

Good morning Rami,
1
a
'tour" NIS
I wouldn't be concern regarding light reflectivity for the EW-1 due to the following elements:
1. The finish of the honeycomb panels is chemical anodization which is a satin finish. Satin finish absorb light
rather than reflecting it. A metal panel reflects light much more with the level of glossiness in the finish, which
the anodize finish doesn't have.
2. The honeycomb panels are folded , so basically half of the panel face is in the shade
3. The honeycomb panels have a 50% perforation which it will let the light to go thru.
4. Sobotec backer panel (the panel behind the honeycomb) is a charcoal dark grey color, corrugated , which will
absorb light, not reflecting it.
I would say that a metal panel will start to produce reflectivity when the glossiness, of the finish, will be over 50%.
I hope that the above helps,
Thanks

Part of what the city is asking for is information about the reflectivity of cladding material, do you have this information

Hi Kurt,
After our conversation earlier today, we talked Victoria and I and came up with some resolution for the courtyard space,
please find attached our markups on the site plan. I also included both a new (close up) and the old (general) rendering
of the northeast corner of the building looking from the street.
Let me know if you have any questions,
Best.

I'm preparing to go meet Margaret at the County's ARB today and wanted to see if you had connected with Victoria on
any further ideas of how to respond to Margaret's ARB questions....
Your call Friday was very helpful, but if possible....could I ask you to shoot me a quick email of any further thoughts you/
Victoria have?
I will be talking to bruce later today....if you would like to schedule a conference call with him we can try that too.

Kurt-
Thanks. Sorry about the late response, this morning got away from me with a couple of fire drills. Here are my
responses:
Lighting
1. There is conflicting information in the submittal regarding light fixtures.Which are proposed—the standard
Audi fixtures or the ones shown on the lighting plan?We showed all the lighting on the property, so it could be
seen how it all works together.
2. On the lighting plan, I can't find the "W" fixtures. Where are they? The "W" were some wall packs on the
existing building, we will add them back in.
3. Three "C" fixtures are shown on the landscape plan but not on the lighting plan. Are they just leftovers from the
previous plan? Yes, those are light fixtures that are either being removed or relocated.
4. It looks like you are proposing to replace the pole lights on parcel 78-15D. Is that correct?Yes, relocating one of
them
5. The lighting schedule notes a maximum illumination level of 28.3 fc. I can't find this on the plan, can you? The
Highest is in the low 22's
6. Why are fc levels so high (18-20 fc) along the west elevation? It's based on the lighting combined with the
building lighting, but we can look at that again.
7. Why are fc levels so high (22.9 fc) near the east end of the south property line? These don't seem consistent
with other fixtures of this type on the plan. Same thing, we modeled the lighting from the pole lights with
lighting from inside the building. Will check this out again.
8. In the BRW packet under"Lighting"there is a reference to "landscape lighting." I don't see this on the plan.
Please clarify. -brw
Landscaping
1. Why are the JV rendered 2 different ways? - brw
2. Why are there shrubs "shadowed" under other plants at the northwest corner and west side of the site? No
reason, just the way the landscape architect prepared the drawing.
3. Why remove and replace the off-site vegetation on 78-15? It was a general note that any landscaping damaged
during the construction should be replaced.
4. The packet says, "Existing street landscaping will be preserved with new understory landscaping."This isn't
consistent with the demo plan or the landscape plan. Grading is shown through the drip lines of trees to remain,
suggesting that trees will be removed. Please clarify.Yes, any trees damaged with the construction will be
replaced. Some grading will take place and these trees and shrubs will need to be replaced if impacted by the
grading and construction.
General Site Plan
1. With this proposal your amendment would include parcels 78-15, 78-15D and 78-15E, right? The bulk of the
construction is associated with the one parcel, but ultimately, it will affect the other parcels with the drive aisles
and other access points.
2. What does the "proposed connection to existing travelway" note mean?Where the tie-in to the new parking lot
connects to the existing travelways on the property.
1
3. The retaining wall with max height of 10' doesn't meet the guidelines. Stepping and landscaping will be
required, and it doesn't look like there is sufficient space available for that. Please clarify. The one retaining wall
is part of the building, and will match the building finishes. I would say that is's part of the foundation of the
building with the access to the building above being part of the second floor.
4 What does the "pavers to match building materials" note mean? brw
5. What does the "sidewalk floor tile to match building finishes" note mean? brw

Thanks for suggesting we get together to chat....) am happy to meet next week.
Would late Tuesday afternoon work for you? Maybe 3:30?
I have forwarded your questions to the design and engineering team to get some clarity, and will either forward
responses or bring them with me when we meet.
Let me know if that time/date works for you and I will happily walk over(assuming the rain has stopped by then!)
Talk to you soon

Kurt,
I've got a number of questions on the Flow Audi proposal, many of which I've listed below. I'd also like to talk with you
about the architectural proposal. Is there a time next week that we could meet here at the County Office Building to
discuss these issues? I'm available the afternoons of Monday,Tuesday and Thursday.
Thanks.
Margaret
Architecture
1. What material is behind the mesh screen when it isn't glass?
2. We really need a sample of the mesh screen.
3. Spandrel glass is listed on the Supplier List, but I don't see it on the building. Further clarification?
4. The building is described as having a brick plinth. From the information provided, it seems to me that a head-on
view from the street will not produce this effect. It looks like the display parking area has a brick plinth as viewed
from the sides, and the building has a concrete ground floor. Similarly, the "heavy base" is most evident from
the sides and rear. How is the plinth defined along the EC frontage? What am I missing?
5. Is the ground floor plain concrete block?
6. I'd like more information/explanation on the architectural courtyard features.
7. What is the height of a standard Audi building?
1
8. Can you provide digital versions of the images showing the building in the streetscape? The printed versions are
a bit difficult to read.
9. A view of the northeast corner of the building/parking area from the street would be very helpful.
