Just wanted to give you all a heads up that we received 3 SP's (one is a personal wireless tower) and 4 ZMA's
for the December submittal (see below). The interdivisional meeting for these applications per the schedule is
2/13 (Wednesday). I was only able to reserve an hour and a half for all of the submittals, so you may get
meeting invites for a different day for some of these applications, or you may not get an invite for all of them as
you may not be needed.
Anyway, Happy New Year!

Special Use Permit SP-2018-00020 WVIR-TV Replacement of Existing TV Tower-
Communications transmission facility, 10.2.2 (6)
Mr. Duncan,
The Special Use Permit application received in the Department of Community Development on 12/17/2018 has been
deemed complete by County staff. The applicant must now pay the required fee for this application to be further
processed for review.
The application fee required for SP-2018-00020 is$2150.00
Please provide a check to the front office staff in the Department of Community Development for the amount noted
above, payable to the "County of Albemarle," as soon as possible, but no later than Wednesday,
January 2nd, 2019.
If this fee is received after Wednesday,January 2"d then your application will be processed with the next applicable
round of application submittals. Submittal Schedule ***
Also, please provide a copy of this email along with your check as verification that your fee can be accepted.
ADDITIONAL FEES REQUIRED BUT NOT DUE AT THIS TIME.
Please note that there will be at least one public hearing by the Planning Commission and one public hearing by the
Board of Supervisors. Virginia State Code requires that notice for public hearings be made by publishing a legal
advertisement in the newspaper and by mailing letters to adjacent property owners. Therefore, at least two fees for
public notice are required before the Board of Supervisors may hear a Special Use Permit.
The total fee for public notice will be provided to you after the final cost is determined and must be paid before a public
body hears the application. Staff estimates the total cost of legal advertisement and adjacent owner notification to be
between $400 and $450 per hearing. This estimate reflects the average cost of public notice fees for Special Use Permit
applications, but the cost of certain applications may be higher.
If applicable, any fees for waiver/special exceptions will be required at the time the additional fees noted above are
calculated. The current fee for a special exception is $457.
*** Please note that if the application fee is not paid within six months of the application being deemed
complete, (6/17/2019) then this application will be deemed withdrawn and all material will either be
returned to the applicant or recycled. ***
Let me know if you have any questions.

Mr. Duncan,
RE: SP2018-20 WVIR TV Replacement of Existing TV Tower
I am working on the conditions of approval for the above ref SP and I am having a hard time coming up with a
maximum width for each side of the tower utilizing the documents provided. This condition is standard for TV
antennas and was also a condition of the existing TV antenna approved in 2002 which is to remain onsite.
The County requires the maximum width of each side to include in the conditions of approval. Please provide
me the required information so I can include it in the staff report to the Planning Commission. Below I offer a
draft of how I plan to write that condition, please fill it out and send it to me(hopefully by Noon Monday—
when my staff report is due for printing). I understand if you cannot obtain this information by then. If that is
the case I will leave the widths described in the condition blank for the PC staff report, but I will be need them 3
weeks prior to the BOS public hearing so I can include it in their report. Thanks for your help.
Draft condition related to width:
The width of each side of the tower shall not exceed feet at its base, and at the top;
