Fairfax Dr. Suite 650 Arlington, VA 22203 RE: ARB-2019-15: Bank of America, Rio Road E., lighting and landscaping renovations and SDP-1996-35: Bank of American, Letter of Revision #3 Dear Ryan, We have received the above -noted applications for a county -wide Certificate of Appropriateness as well as a Letter of revision. The following revisions are requested to make the proposal consistent with the design criteria that apply to the County -wide Certificate. 1. Resubmit revised sheets A09.11; E2.01; E3.01; C1.10; and C1.20. Eliminate all others as redundancies. Provide the Pole Base Detail (detail 1) and the luminaire schedule from E0.01 on E2.01. Orient the plans so that north is at the top of the pages of E2.01 and E3.01. Provide the public street names on E2.01 and E3.01. 2. Ensure that all of the current and proposed wall -mounted lights are drawn on the elevations visible from the Entrance Corridor street (i.e., the south, west, and east elevations. The north elevation is not visible from Rio Road and therefore does not require ARB review). 3. Remove light models Rl, R2, and R3 from the lighting plan on E2.01 if they are to be removed and not replaced. 4. The site has lost three crapemyrtles and thus three medium shade trees. The amount of shade canopy is under compliance. Provide additional shade trees across the site. 5. There are two shrubs on the east property line that are identified as hemlocks but do not appear to be that species. Verify their species. 6. There remains a discrepancy between the parking on the site as it exists today and what was approved. Where four parking spaces are illustrated in the northeast corner of the site, there are three on the ground; where five spaces are illustrated on the western property line, there are seven on the ground. Reflect the Existing Conditions sheet (C1.10) to accurately reflect all current landscaping and site features. 7. Revise sheet C1.10 to show the proposed demolition of any existing freestanding lights or landscaping. Differentiate between what does not exist on the ground today from what is proposed to be removed in future. 8. The kelvins (or color temperatures) or light models HE and HE2 are not provided in the catalog number within the luminaire schedules. All other light models listed in the luminaire schedules are 40K. Provide the color temperatures for these two models in revised luminaire schedules. 9. Note that light levels in excess of 20 footcandles is generally not accepted in the Entrance Corridor. Reduce the footcandle values in excess of 20 fc under the drive -through canopy. 10. There is a discrepancy between the quantity of HE listed in the luminaire schedules (6) and those shown on the plans on E2.01 and E3.01 (5); there is a discrepancy between the quantity of HKl listed in the luminaire schedules (1) and those shown on the plans on E2.01 and E3.01 (2). Rectify. Within 15 days of the date of this letter, please send me a letter (by email is acceptable) indicating whether you will or will not proceed with these revisions. If you choose not to proceed with these revisions, staff will be unable to approve your application. If you choose to proceed with the revisions, please forward me one set of revised drawings together with a memo summarizing the revisions you've made. Your decision to make the revisions will suspend the 60-day review period associated with your original submittal. However, I expect to complete the review of your revised proposal within 2 weeks of your re -submittal. If you have any questions about this action, please contact me as soon as possible. I look forward to receiving your revisions and completing this review with an approval letter.
