DESCRIPTION OF REQUEST: Need a variance to allow reconstruction of a
non-conforming sign located on the above site for more than
fifteen years.
JUSTIFICATION FOR REQUEST: Applicant contacted the Zoning Department
prior to repairing and reconstructing the sign and commenced work
on the understanding it would not violate the existing ordinance.
The necessary repairs to the sign could have been done within the
ordinance provisions, since they were less than 50% of the existing
sign.
• The foregoing information is complete and correct to the best of my
knowledge. I have read and understand the provisions of the Albemarle County
Zoning Ordi a ce ap• il .ble to this application.

parcel 49A, located on the north side of Ht 250, at its interesection with
Rt 601 , zoned RA. The applicant seeks a variance from Sections 4.15.3.1 ,
30.5.7. 1 and 30.5. 7.2 of the Albemarle County Zoning Ordinance to reduce
the spacing requirement for location signs from 1500 feet to 1 foot , to
reduce the setback for a location sign from 75 feet to 1 foot , and to
increase the allowable square footage of a location sign from 6 square feet
`to 270 square feet to allow erection of a location sign.

am filing herewith an application for variance for the
above applicant, pertaining to the sign located on U. S.
Route 250 West. This, of course, is the same sign on which
you previously had an application for an appeal, your number
AP-87-01.
If you will advise Charles Ancona when it is ready,
he will make sure the sign is posted. I would appreciate
your advising us when the matter will be heard and forwarding
a copy of the staff report. Thank you.
