Dear Sir:
i This letter is to inform you that on June 9, 1987, during
the regular meeting of the Albemarle County Board of Zoning
Appeals, your application for VA-87-34 was approved subject to
the following conditions:
:i 1) that the variance be approved for a five year term, and
2) that the location be approved by the Zoning Administrator
This variance approval allows relief from Section 5. 8 of
# the Albemarle County Zoning Ordinance to allow permanent use of
a mobile home as a classroom.

RE: STATUS - VARIANCES HEREBY VOIDED AS UNNECESSARY
These variances were for mobile classroom units for the public
schools. By condition of approval, they were due to expire June
(1992) . As a result of a zoning text amendment approved by the
Board of Supervisors on November 1, 1989 , mobile classrooms for
public uses such as schools are permitted by-right in every
district. Therefore, these variances are voided as unnecessary.

STAFF REPORT - VA-87-34
APPLICANT: Albemarle County School Board
TAX MAP/PARCEL: 87/61
ACREAGE: 4 . 55 acres
ZONING: RA (Rural Areas)
LOCATION: South side of Rt . 760, at its intersection
with Rt . 710 .
The applicant seeks a variance from Section 5 . 8 of the
Albemarle County Zoning Ordinance . This section states :
"5 . 8 Temporary Nonresidential Mobile Homes
A temporary nonresidential mobile home may be authorized
by the Zoning Administrator provided the mobile home is
used to house a planned permanent use and the applicant
has received site plan approval for such permanent use
on the same site . . "
The applicant proposes to use a mobile home as a temporary
classroom at the Red Hill Elementary School . The additional
classroom space is needed based on projected enrollment increases .
RECOMMENDATION
The application should be approved subject to the following:
1) That the variance be granted for a period not to exceed
five (5) years , and
2) That the location of the mobile home be approved by the
Zoning Administrator
