Papenfuse Albemarle County School Board 401 McIntire Road Charlottesville, Virginia 22901 Re: Board of Zoning Appeals Action VA-87-35, Tax Map 56, Parcel 17A Dear Sir: This letter is to inform you that on June 9, 1987, during 4 the regular meeting of the Albemarle County Board of Zoning Appeals, your application for VA-87-35 was approved subject to the following conditions: 1) that the variance be approved for a five year term, and 2) that the location be approved by the Zoning Administrator This variance approval allows relief from Section 5.8 of the Albemarle County Zoning Ordinance to allow two (2) mobile homes to be used as temporary classrooms without prior approval of a site plan. McCulley, A. I .C.P - • - DATE: August 17, 1992 RE: STATUS - VARIANCES HEREBY VOIDED AS UNNECESSARY These variances were for mobile classroom units for the public schools. By condition of approval, they were due to expire June (1992) . As a result of a zoning text amendment approved by the Board of Supervisors on November 1, 1989, mobile classrooms for public uses such as schools are permitted by-right in every district. Therefore, these variances are voided as unnecessary. AGM/sp/5T F STAFF REPORT - VA-87-35 APPLICANT: Albemarle County School Board TAX MAP/PARCEL: 56/17A ACREAGE: 50 acres ZONING: R-1 (Residential) LOCATION: North side of Rt . 250 , + 1 mile west of its intersection with Rt . 635 The applicant seeks a variance from Section 5 . 8 of the Albe- marle County Zoning Ordinance . This section states : "5 . 8 Temporary Nonresidential mobile homes A temporary nonresidential mobile home may be authorized by the Zoning Administrator provided the mobile home is used to house a planned permanent use and the applicant has received site plan approval for such permanent use on the same site The applicant proposed to place two (2) mobile homes on the Brownsville Elementary School property. The mobile homes are to be utilized as additional classroom space . The additional space is needed due to projected enrollment increases . RECOMMENDATION The application should be approved subject to the following: 1) that the variance be granted for a period not to exceed five (5) years , and 2) that the location of the mobile homes on the premises receive prior approval from the Zoning Administrator
